The Amsterdam Humanities Hub encourages meeting, debate and research. At various locations in the University Quarter, spaces are available for meetings, collaboration and events. Apart from employees of the UvA and the KNAW Humanities Cluster, external partners and students can also use these spaces.
  • Are there any costs involved in booking a space?

    In general, the rooms below can be used free of charge unless stated otherwise. The rooms at the locations Allard Pierson, Agnietenkapel, Aula and University Library do incur charges.

  • Can anyone use these spaces?

    The spaces listed below can be reserved in any case by staff members of the University of Amsterdam, and by colleagues of the KNAW Humanities Cluster. External partners and students are also welcome to use these facilities, as long as this is in the context of activities that are related to teaching, research and collaboration.

  • Is there a screen available for hybrid conferencing or presentations?

    Yes, screens suitable for hybrid meetings and presentations are available in all available rooms at all locations.

  • Is it possible to order catering for my meeting or event?

    UvA employees can place orders for events, meetings and receptions with CIRFOOD Enjoy the Good Life. All prices, appointments and arrangements, including the offerings of affiliated local entrepreneurs can be found on CIRFOOD's banqueting portal. This portal is linked to OrderDirect, the UvA's ordering system. You pay for all products ordered in advance from the caterer.

Allard Pierson
Oude Turfmarkt 127-129

In a monumental historic building on the Oude Turfmarkt, the Allard Pierson offers a number of beautiful meeting and dining rooms suitable for a variety of business meetings, such as meetings, conferences, lectures, workshops, drinks and dinners.

Please note that costs are involved for this location.

Aula and Agnietenkapel
Singel 411, Oudezijds Voorburgwal 231

The Aula and Agnietenkapel are two representative rooms that can be used for lectures, symposia and graduation ceremonies, among others. Reservations can be requested via the page below.

BG2
Binnengasthuisstraat 15-17

BG2 is home to the UvA's Department of Arts and Culture. The meeting rooms on the first, second and third floors have a capacity of 6 to 8 people. Contact bv-kencfil-fgw@uva.nl for space eservation options.

University Library (UB)
Singel 425

Several representative rooms can be rented in the University Library (until autumn 2025) for meetings, events and/or drinks. The University Library will move to its new location on the Binnengasthuisterrein in 2025.

UvA secretariats can reserve a room free of charge via  via Termtime. For externals, (limited) charges apply.

Bushuis, workshop space Humanities Labs

On the ground floor of the Bushuis you can find the Humanities Labs workshop room (room F0.01). Meetings in the workshop space are generally, but not necessarily, related to the Humanities Labs.

Oudemanhuispoort
Humanities Venture Lab & BuzzHouse

The Humanities Venture Lab supports enterprising humanities scholars in setting up their business. The HVL offers a lively co-working space with offices in a great location in the city centre. BuzzHouse is an inspiration space for meeting, training, exchanges, connections and development of innovative ideas in the media and culture industry.

KNAW Humanities Cluster

Spinhuis, Oost-Indisch Huis

The Spinhuis (Oudezijds Achterburgwal 185) and Oost-Indisch Huis (Korte Spinhuissteeg 3) are home to the Meertens Institute and the Huygens Institute of the KNAW Humanities Cluster. The meeting rooms at these locations have a capacity of 8 to 20 people.

University Theatre
Nieuwe Doelenstraat 16-18

The building of the Theatre Studies programme house the University Theatre, which can accommodate 120 people. The space is primarily intended for events related to the Theatre Studies department, but is available to UvA staff for other purposes.

VOX-POP
Binnengasthuisstraat 9 (BG3)

VOX-POP is the creative space of the Faculty of Humanities and is dedicated to publicly accessible cultural programmes. We organise events in co-creation with students, alumni, local residents and staff to bridge the gap between academics, art and society.
