Julia Noordegraaf, Director of Research and Impact of the Faculty of Humanities, says: ‘In recent years, Margo Keizer has done a terrific job in binding external partners to us and in helping researchers to look beyond the university. This has resulted in various co-creation processes, such as De Joodse stad and the project at the Marineterrein, and in strategic partnerships such as the one between the UvA, the municipality and Allard Pierson in the field of archaeology.
I am delighted that Klaas Hernamdt is prepared to take over from Margo. Through his role at the Humanities Venture Lab he already brings with him a broad network and extensive experience in setting up innovative collaborations. In addition, he has a great passion for current issues that call for humanities insights.’
On his appointment, Klaas Hernamdt says: ‘The focus themes of the AHH – responsible technology and the liveable city – are close to my heart. Art, culture and innovation have been a common thread throughout my career. I am therefore very much looking forward to making the University Quarter an even more vibrant place and to positioning it more strongly as the humanities innovation district. With everything we have to offer, the humanities are in an excellent position to work with our partners to give concrete shape to our societal mission.’
