Humanities Accelerate

Do you want to learn about funding models for impactful cultural initiatives? In this workshop you will unpack practical strategies for accessing and securing financial resources, from traditional grant-funding to impact investment. Led by Arthur Steiner and Farah de Haan from New Silk Roads, who both have years of experience in philanthropy and fundraising specifically in the field of culture and international cooperation. This workshop is presented by the Humanities Venture Lab as part of the Accelerate programme.

Contributors

Arthur Steiner

Arthur Steiner, researcher and art curator and co-founder of New Silk Roads collaborates with artists, activists, funders, collectors and impact investors who advance unconventional solutions for the most urgent global challenges. His recent research includes studies on alternative funding models for contemporary culture and social engagement. He is currently involved in various initiatives at the crossroads of culture, technology, and social change across Europe, West Asia and North Africa and has worked with various organizations such as Hivos, DOEN, Opes, Moleskine Foundation CLUA, Philea, The Alliance for Socially Engaged Art and Allianz Foundation.

Farah de Haan

Farah de Haan is a trainer and fundraiser who helps impactful organisations secure funding and scale their programmes. Working with both startups and NGOs, Farah specifically trains growing teams in proposal writing and programme development, supporting them to turn their bold ideas into fundable realities.

Previously, she worked with Hivos and GFA Consulting Group, where she supported entrepreneurs tackling big challenges, such as green innovation, migrant-led businesses, job creation, and community-driven spaces. She is also the co-founder of Noss e Noss, a collective for and by Dutch-Egyptian women that explores bicultural identity through word, image, and sound.
